Snakes & Sirens was formed in May 2004 by Björn Velthof, Emiel Rolefes and Bert Hosmar, who had already played together in an other formation.Their main goal with this new band was to write their own songs and make te combination between melodic rock and metal. So, with this in mind, guitarist Bas ter Meer and keyboarder Jeffrey Revet were attracted to complete the band’s line-up.
After a few rehearsels the first songs were born. Characterized by heavy guitarriffs, pumping bass and drums, completed with spheric keyboards and of course Emiel’s vocals, Snakes & Sirens’ own sound started to develop. A progress that is still going on.
During autumn 2005 the band records its first EP with producer Joost van den Broek (After Forever) at the Excess Studios Rotterdam. This first evidence of the band being there was positive received and reviewed by dutch magazines like Aardshok and web-e-zines like zwaremetalen.com and rockezine.com.
That the band is also a great live-act has been proven by the many positive reactions they got on their shows at, among others, Atak Enschede, the Dynamo Open Air pre-party and Melkweg Amsterdam.
Unfortunately, end 2006 bassplayer Bert Hosmar was no longer able to combine the band with his job and he had to leave Snakes & Sirens. After a few months of auditions Ruud Keijzer was introduced as the band’s new bassplayer. Anno 2007 the band works hard on new material for a complete album. And of course the live shows that are planned, see you there!
